Weight Management

We all know that diet and exercise are key to losing and managing our weight. What is not always recognised is the impact that stress has on our ability to do that.

Stress and anxiety change the way we respond mentally and physically by changing our body chemistry in such a way that our bodies are encouraged to store fat reserves rather than release energy. Sustained levels of stress hormones (Cortisol) contribute to the build up of fat which releases an overload of other hormones that suppresses our ability to feel full and can lead to over-eating or comfort eating. We also get less pleasure out of the food we do eat, again encouraging us to eat more when we don't need to.

Stress is also a key factor in poor sleep and studies have shown that those who sleep less than 6 hours a night instead of 8 experience an increased level of hunger and desire for a higher calorie intake, therefore also contributing to weight gain.

Breaking the stress cycle is important to losing or managing your weight, especially if diet and exercise alone aren't giving you the desired results.

Therapy can help you to reduce stress and anxiety levels, sleep better, build confidence and self-esteem by giving you the tools to relax and normalise your body's chemistry, paving the way to weight loss.

At The Wellness Hut we offer clients the intent on sustainable and long-term weight management and the tools to support them in their goals to losing weight and creating a sustainable healthy living lifestyle.
